What is the Youth Encounter?

The BLD Youth Encounter is a one-day retreat designed for young people ages 11 to 19 who want to experience a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Organized by the BLD SF Bay Area Youth Ministry, this encounter brings together teens from across the San Francisco Bay Area for a spirit-filled day of faith, friendship, and fun.

Who is it for?

The Youth Encounter is open to all Catholic youth between the ages of 11 and 19. Whether you’ve grown up in the faith or are just beginning to explore it, this retreat is designed to meet you where you are and help you take the next step in your spiritual journey.

What to Expect

Participants will experience:

Uplifting worship and prayer — encounter God through music, adoration, and the sacraments
Fellowship with other youth — build lasting friendships with other Catholic teens in the Bay Area
Fun and games — team-building activities and a chance to make new friends
Dynamic talks and testimonies from young adult leaders and peers who share their faith stories
Small group discussions — a safe space to ask questions, share experiences, and grow together

The Youth Encounter is not just a retreat — it’s the beginning of a journey. Many past participants go on to become active members of the BLD Youth Ministry, serving as leaders and mentors for the next generation.
